Alfama

Alfama is the oldest part of Lisbon, the quarter the 1755 earthquake spared — a hill of tiled facades, washing lines and stairs that turn back on themselves. These Alfama prints read it in layers: amber lamplight against a deep dusk, a lone figure held in an archway, the tram threading a street too narrow for two. Each is an Alfama, Lisbon photograph printed as a signed fine art edition, A3 or A6 — one chapter in an ongoing series of Lisbon prints, made slowly and on foot.
